Why Choose AFAA

Austin Allergy - Office Location

We pride ourselves on being Austin’s premier allergists! While we practice cutting edge, evidence-based, modern medicine rooted in science, we also believe in certain aspects of good, old-fashioned medicine: we are a small practice of only two doctors, Dr. Lieberman and Dr. Parekh. At each visit, you will actually see your doctor! We recognize that each patient is an individual. Therefore, we will spend the time to talk to you about your problem and then come up with a personalized diagnostic and treatment plan! As such, we do not perform unnecessary testing that we believe will not be of clinical value. And our goal is to minimize your medication usage, not maximize it!

It’s a family matter!

Allergies are inherited. Estimates are that with one allergic parent, 1 out of 3 children will have allergies. If both parents are allergic, the likelihood of the children having allergies increases to 2 of 3. All the major allergic conditions: eczema, food allergy, hay fever and asthma run higher in families. If an older sibling has food allergies, especially with sensitivity to peanuts, there is an increased risk of the younger members of the family having allergies as well. Although the risk for allergy trends higher in families, each member might be sensitive to different allergens. Thus, it is essential to properly test and manage each individual patient.
As allergies stretch across the entire age spectrum, Austin Family Allergy & Asthma treats people of all ages: infants, toddlers, children, teens, adults, and seniors. For your convenience, we are able to schedule parents and children together at the same office visit. Our families often visit the office together to receive their immunotherapy injections! We understand weekdays are very busy for working families and that’s why we also offer Saturday hours!

Austin Allergy - Excellence

We are involved…..All to help our patients! Dr Parekh has published articles in leading allergy journals and both doctors are currently investigators in ongoing clinical research trials.

We are Board Certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. This is the highest benchmark of clinical knowledge that doctors in our specialty can attain.

The doctors often speak at schools and daycare centers regarding food allergies, epinephrine usage, and asthma action plans. We have been interviewed on KVUE news numerous times for expert insight. We participate in many community programs to raise awareness and education about allergies and asthma.
