Update: Mask policy and Covd-19 vaccine:

Friends,

Despite the governor’s recent announcement, in the interest of safety for all our patients and staff, our mask policy will not change and masks are still required at all times for anyone age 3 and over while in our office suite. This is also to comply with our building policy, which requires ongoing mask-wearing and social distancing.

We support the positions of the CDC, the Texas Medical Association (TMA) and the Texas Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology Society (TAAIS), of which we are members.

Here is an excerpt from a recent TAAIS statement:

“ . . . (TAAIS) Executive Committee encourages all members to maintain all existing COVID-19 safety protocols including masking, frequent handwashing, and social distancing requirements . . .

We support the position and response of the Texas Medical Association (TMA).

‘TMA is encouraged that COVID-19 cases are decreasing in the state, and more Texans are getting vaccinated against the virus. We continue to urge all Texans to continue to follow the science to protect themselves and their families by wearing a mask when needed, social distancing, and washing their hands frequently.’

Prevention measure guidelines have not changed . . .”

Thus, Austin Family Allergy and Asthma will continue to follow our current protocols until advised by local and regional experts that is safe to relax them.

Regarding the Covid-19 vaccine:

We have been notified that we will receive an allocation of the new single-dose J&J Janssen Covid-19 vaccine shortly. We will be starting a new waiting list for current patients and family members who wish to receive a dose. For current patients and family members to be placed on the waiting list, please send an email to nurses@familyallergyATX.com. Do NOT call us, as our phone lines are getting jammed up. Only send an email. Include in your email your name, age, occupation, vaccine category, underlying conditions and the best phone number to contact you. We will be deleting our previous waiting list so it is important to send a new email to be considered.

We are proud of the many ways our community has responded to this pandemic. We have all learned from each other and have prioritized taking care of those in need. There is light at the end of the tunnel, and we look forward to being there with you and our community when that day comes.

Stay safe,

Dr Lieberman
