Food Allergy Updates:
As Austin’s leaders in food allergy, we are happy to announce another addition to our oral immunotherapy (OIT) program now available at our food allergy center. For our egg allergic patients we now offer egg OIT. Egg will make the third food we have for OIT joining peanut and milk.
Also, did you know that recent food allergy guidelines endorse the early feeding of peanut containing foods to infants deemed at high risk for developing peanut allergy? In this case, “high risk” infants are babies with severe eczema or egg allergy or both. We can test your child for peanut allergy. After that, using a slow step-wise approach with close observation in our office, we are able to feed peanut containing foods to infants as young as 4-6 months of age.
