How to introduce peanut at home

At Austin Family Allergy & Asthma we are very excited about the new national guidelines on the early introduction of peanut containing foods to infants. We have routinely been practicing these recommendations for nearly the past two years following publication of the landmark LEAP (Learning Early About Peanut Allergy) study in early 2015. Our office is one of only a few allergy offices in Austin that is capable of conducting and interpreting allergy skin tests on very young infants. Depending on the circumstance, we will introduce peanut in the office under our close observation. With this careful approach, we have been able to introduce peanut containing foods to many high risk infants safely and successfully.

However, there are times when you can simply give peanut to your infant or toddler at home. The following video demonstrates how to do that. Please do NOT do this unless specifically told by your doctor to go ahead and introduce peanut to you child!
