Allergy Training for School Staff

AENT Team

July 25, 2017

Does your child have a potentially life threatening food allergy?

Is your child’s school properly prepared for an allergy emergency?

Now is the time to see the following measures are in place to ensure your child’s safety:
– An up-to-date emergency care plan detailing step-by-step instructions to recognize and treat an allergic reaction.
– A self-injectable epinephrine device must be available and stored at the school. The epinephrine dose must be up-to-date and appropriate for your child’s weight. The epinephrine device and emergency care plan go hand in hand, you should not have one without the other.
– Ensure the school and staff are properly trained in the prompt recognition and management of an allergic reaction. Seconds truly matter in the treatment of a food allergy emergency.

At Austin Family Allergy and Asthma, we can help with all of the above. Dr. Lieberman and Dr. Parekh are readily available to in-service and train at any local public or private school. This program is offered free to the community. To schedule a school training, please call us 512-346-7936 or visit our school training site page for more information.
